Commercial Director Europe
28.Oct.2019The commercial director develops and prospects with his/her team new customers in the retail, out of home and business to business area. He/she is a strong individual able to make the difference in both the “business building” activities and “customer relationships”. His/her major objective is to grow the business by developing his/her markets into a professional organization.
Accountabilities:
- Commercial and company representation
- The CD acts as Gourmand figurehead within his region.
- Recommend on priority setting for the region and insure flawless in-market execution.
- Develop a clear strategy per country/market segment
- Consistently track & review business performance against the annual objectives. Take corrective action when necessary
- Develop customer activities in order to maximize growth opportunities.
- Evaluate the main activities and give feedback to the internal stakeholders.
- Commercial strategy
- Initiate, lead and implement the commercial strategy
- Translate strategy into action via a KPI driven platform which
- Develop and implement the commercial routines
- People and team management
- Manages and leads the sales teams of Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Adriatic, Iberia, UK and export.
- Manage and lead the sales support team
- Hire, retain and develop sales talent
- Be an inspirer and lead by example.
- Reporting
- Accountable for the management and reporting of the business numbers (net sales value/customer discounts and allowances/distributor fees)
- Overlook in coordination with the Gourmand finance team the outstanding invoices and cash balance.
- Provide qualitative and timely reports to the CEO.
- Close collaboration with the members of the management team.
- Coordination and project management
- Further roll out and follow up of our CRM system
- Determine pricing and product policy in accordance with CFO and CEO
- Be an inspirer for new product development
- Manage and improve the sales-and promotional processes.
- Assist the supply chain team on sales forecast and warehouse management.
- Manage ad hoc projects
Job Dimensions:
- He is responsible for the European area. Other areas might be added depending on the business development and personal achievements.
- Country sales managers, key account managers and the sales support team as direct reports.
- Net sales of 70 mio euro in year 1. Expected to be doubled w/I 4 years
Key skills/requirements:
- University degree. MBA is a plus.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Min. 10 years sales experience w/I the FMCG industry. Part of which internationally.
- Successful track record in delivering business targets & plans in a highly competitive environment
- Strong intellect, excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills which facilitate effective communication, internally and externally..
- At least tri-lingual (Dutch, French, English) . Knowledge of German is highly appreciated.
- Is flexible, pragmatic with a “can do” attitude
- Results-driven, open, respectful and reliable individual
- Strong negotiator
